First, you must ensure your Squarespace website is properly claimed in your Pinterest account, which can be verified under "claimed external accounts" in Pinterest settings. If you haven’t done this yet.. please watch this video first!

  1. Add your Squarespace Blog RSS URL into Pinterest: The auto-publish feature is found under "bulk create pins" in Pinterest, where you'll need to add your website's RSS feed URL using the format: https://www.yourdomain.com/pageslug?format=rss. For Squarespace sites without a custom domain, you can use the format: https://sitename.squarespace.com/pageslug?format=rss. The exact RSS feed URL structure is crucial for this to work. You cannot just use www.your-domain.com, it has to be the blog / RSS feed URL as described above.

  2. Connect your Pinterest Account to Squarespace: Under Squarespace's third-party tools settings, you need to connect your Pinterest account to enable proper RSS feed integration and auto-publishing functionality. Make sure this is setup in your Squarespace account.

  3. Using Pinterest-Type Images on your Blog Posts: The system pulls the "featured image" from your blog posts to create Pinterest pins, so it's important to use visually appealing, Pinterest-optimized images rather than generic photos. I recommend creating Pinterest-style images for blog posts to make them more engaging and clickable when they appear in Pinterest feeds. Think about using bold text, big headers, and branded designs. For optimal results, it's recommended to add Pinterest-optimized images at the top of each blog post, which not only looks cohesive but also encourages visitors to save content to Pinterest.

  4. Enable Pinterest Save buttons in Squarespace: To enable Pinterest save buttons on your Squarespace site, go to Settings > Website > Pinterest Save Buttons, where you can choose button style and placement options. This will encourage users to save your content to Pinterest themselves… which drives more traffic to your website in the long run!

  5. Wait 24 Hours: The auto-publish feature takes about 24 hours to start working properly after initial setup and may take 24 hours to automatically create pins for new blog posts moving forward. It will also bring over your older blog posts as well all at once. When initially connecting your RSS feed, Pinterest will typically start publishing pins from the oldest content in your feed first.

  6. It’s Magic!! After completing the setup, no manual pin creation is needed - the system automatically publishes new blog posts to your selected Pinterest board, helping to grow your Pinterest presence passively.
