Course Types: Finding Your Ideal Approach

1. Signature High-Ticket Courses

These premium signature course offerings typically range from $500 to $3,000+ and serve as the cornerstone of your business. The key advantages include:

  • Attracting highly committed students

  • Generating significant income with fewer enrollments

  • Allowing deep, transformative learning experiences

  • Creating your own signature method & walking your students through your process

  • A true business focus. All of your effort goes into one offer that can easily be scaled to replace 1:1 clients

  • Easier to create marketing materials because you’re not being pulled in different directions

2. Mini Courses or Micro Courses

For those seeking a more accessible entry point, mini courses offer:

  • Lower price points (usually under $500). Low-risk entry point for hesitant buyers

  • Before committing to your signature program, they can experience your teaching style, methodology, and results through bite-sized offerings that solve specific problems.

  • Flexibility in content delivery & quick wins that build immediate trust

  • Potential for bundling or creating tiered learning paths

  • Bite-sized digital products they can easily consume in one sitting to “test the waters”. Smaller chunks of digital content / smaller courses that can eventually lead to larger course sales or 1:1 clients.

  • Tangible results in a single sitting

  • Natural pathway to premium offerings

  • Easy to watch / listen on-the-go

  • Quicker to create

Launch Strategies: Live vs. Passive

Live Launching

  • Open & Closed, time-limited enrollment periods (You open on the 12th and close doors on the 24th)

  • High-energy promotional campaigns. Can be stressful, especially for introverts or those easily drained

  • Potential for rapid, concentrated income bursts and cash injections into your business

  • May have periods of ups & downs in income

  • Creates a sense of urgency for your followers since they know the doors will close

  • Gives you time to improve your course when the doors shut down for the next round

Passive Launching

  • Doors are always open & your course allows for continuous enrollment

  • Reliance on backend systems & automated marketing to do the “selling” for you

  • Once your marketing works, it can lead to consistent, lower-intensity revenue generation

  • Allows the buyer to buy when they are ready, not when the doors are open

  • Can feel less personal compared to live launching, so you need to infuse your personality and stories into the launch process

Online Course Delivery Formats Explained

  1. Self-Paced Courses: Complete flexibility for students. They can watch the lectures at their own pace and on their own schedule. One slight downside is that with this increased flexibility, they may lag behind or not move through the content as quickly so try to increase accountability as much as possible (maybe by adding a course community).

  2. Drip-Fed Content: Controlled learning progression. This can be based on a specific date (for instance with live launching your program starts on a specific date and the content will be “dripped” to your students over the next X weeks. It can also be based on when the student enrolls. They can get the modules drip fed to them weeks after they enroll (some course platforms don’t do this, so make sure to check your platform if you want it drip-fed based on student behavior, not date!)

  3. Group Programs: Cohort-based learning with community interaction. This is where the students go through the course at the same time, which increases the community feel. It can be the best form of accountability & getting your students to complete the content. However, this sometimes can be more draining for the course creator because they have to show up for live / group coaching calls. If you’re more of an introvert, this may not be the path for you — but try it!

  4. Live Courses: Real-time training experiences where you teach the course live. Ideally you’d also record the content to reuse the content for later in case you want to turn it into a passive course.

  5. Hybrid Models: Combining pre-recorded content with live elements. This could be a self-paced or drip-fed course (all pre-recorded by the course creator) that also has live elements included! Let’s say monthly or weekly drop-in calls or FAQ sessions. You can also add “video interaction” in your courses where they can submit questions but it’s not live.

Course Monetization Techniques

  • Tiered content levels - They can enroll in Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced content, all at different price points. It’s one course, but the content is unlocked at each level. This is easy to do in Kartra and more advanced course platforms.

  • VIP support packages - a pricier bundle where they add on VIP support while they are going through your course

  • One-on-one coaching add-ons - Where they can add on additional coaching as needed

  • Bonus materials, workshops, masterclasses, or templates

  • Bundled course offerings - bundling mini courses together to give a full learning experience.

Course Creation: Content Creation Tips

Diversify your Content within the course. Many course platforms allow you to host different types of content like:

  • Video lessons: Demonstrate techniques or explain complex concepts visually. People get to connect with you through video. Can either be you talking over a slide deck (with your face in the corner) or just your face.

  • Audio content: Offer downloadable podcasts or guided meditations for on-the-go learning. Imagine your audience listening and learning while making dinner or on a walk. Imagine linking your podcast episodes in your course for further guidance.

  • Text-based resources: Provide in-depth articles, quick-reference guides, roadmaps, or checklists.

  • Interactive Quizzes: Reinforce learning and help clients check their understanding before moving onto the next module or lesson.

  • Worksheets and workbooks and checklists: Offer practical tools for clients to apply what they've learned. Add in journal prompts, thought provoking questions, or downloadable guides to add to their refrigerator.

  • Screen recordings: Walk them through a problem or step-by-step process by sharing your screen

  • Discussion forums: Foster a community and accountability where clients can share experiences and ask questions (in a Facebook Group or community group.)

  • Resource Hub and curated product links: Recommend your favorite nutrition tools or supplements. Recommend affiliate product links or links to your Amazon storefront! Win-Win making money while giving your students links to succeed on their journey.

  • Downloadable meal plans + Recipe Collections: Offer practical, ready-to-use resources if you're a wellness professional.

  • Comment Sections: Allow your students to give their feedback or make a comment on the modules they just watched.

  • Guest Experts: Invite a few guest experts to add value into your course on adjacent topics or interesting topics you may not feel as comfortable presenting on.  Expand your reach through their network.

  • Exclusive Discounts: Give your students exclusive discounts as a student of your course on your favorite affiliate products.  A perk for them!
